Domaine des Epeneaux owes its name to the Clos des Epeneaux, a magnificent parcel of five hectares acquired by Nicolas Marey at the end of the 18th, beginning of the 19th century.

In 1828, the Clos des Epeneaux and related buildings, known as the Fief de Rancy, situated in the centre of the village of Pommard, became part of the heritage of the family of the Count Armand.

The estate remained as such until 1994 when it annexed a vineyard plot situated in the neighboring village of Volnay, then later parcels from the village of Auxey-Duresses. Today, Domaine des Epeneaux constitutes a total surface area of 9 hectares, and is more committed than ever to producing wines that are true expressions of their terroir.

Burghound: 87 Points

Bright and fresh aromas include those of just sliced citrus, spice and green apple. The beautifully detailed flavors are not quite as dense but they're even more energetic while terminating in a bone-dry yet not really austere finale. This is also quite good for its level and worth checking out.

Vinous: 87-89 Points

The 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté was picked on 11 October and will be bottled before Christmas. It has a taut, fresh nose with linden and frangipane scents. The palate is well-balanced and very effortless, with touches of stem ginger that liven the finish. This is a perfectly fine Aligoté.

Jancis Robinson: 16 Points

Cask sample. Bright mix of herbs and fresh pears on the nose, plus a pure citrus streak. Great stony tension on the palate, the fruit returning on the finish. A deliciously refreshing bite at the end. (JH)
