Burlotto is a family-owned winery in Verduno, Piedmont, Italy, with a long history of producing high-quality wines. The dream of the family has always been to share Barolo with the world, and they have been working towards this goal since the early 20th century. With a strong connection to the territory and a passion for winemaking, the Burlotto family has built a reputation for producing exceptional wines. Today, the winery is run by Gian Carlo Burlotto and his son Gianluca, who continue the family tradition with the brand Cascina Massara.
This Dolcetto d'Alba represents a harmonious blend of contrasts, bridging rustic charm with refined elegance. The hand-harvested grapes are transported in small boxes to preserve their integrity, then undergo partial destemming with a significant portion of whole clusters retained for fermentation. The wine sees gentle daily pump-overs and punch-downs during maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation and 9 months of aging primarily in stainless steel tanks, with occasional barrel aging in select vintages. The result is an approachable wine that satisfies both casual enjoyment and thoughtful appreciation, expressing both the sweetness suggested by its name and an unexpected strength.
The 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba is one of the most distinctive wines in this range. Medium in body and translucent, the 2022 offers up an enticing mix of blue fruits, lavender, sage, mint and spice. A healthy dollop of stems (55%) adds layers of nuance without dominating the wine's balance.
Bright magenta/ruby-colored, the 2022 Dolcetto D'Alba is fresh and fruity with aromas of fresh mixed berries, fresh flowers, and fresh herbs. Midweight and charming, it’s fresh and inviting with fine sweet tannins and an easygoing feel. It has a delicate fruity nature and a clean finish with crunchy fruit. This quaffable red is ready to drink now or over the next couple of years.
