Tequila Cazadores, founded in 1922 by Don Jose Maria Bañuelos in Arandas, Mexico, was inspired by a deer sighting in an agave field, leading to its name meaning "hunters." The recipe remained a family secret for 51 years until Don Jose's grandson, Don Felix, established the first commercial distillery in 1973. Cazadores is deeply rooted in the Arandas community, supporting the local ecosystem and economy. Made from 100% blue agave, the tequila undergoes a seven-step, sustainable, zero-waste production process, including double distillation and fermentation. While staying true to the original 1922 recipe, Maestro Tequilero Jesus Susunaga oversees the production, which has evolved to meet growing demand and maintain sustainability.
Tequila Cazadores Reposado, aged up to a year in new American oak barrels, offers a well-balanced blend of agave and woody flavors. Its tasting profile is characterized by bright citrus and tropical fruit notes, complemented by hints of vanilla and a smooth finish. The aroma showcases agave scents mixed with earthy spices. The oak aging imparts smoky wood undertones, creating a complex flavor profile that makes it suitable for both cocktails and sipping neat. This reposado tequila embodies the spirit of its terroir, presenting a harmonious combination of fresh, fruity elements with deeper, wood-influenced flavors.
