The Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr vineyard, considered a "Premier Grand Cru" in Burgundian terms, is the heart of the Brauneberg vineyard mountain. Located close to the river and surrounded by the Juffer vineyard, it faces directly south and is rich in iron minerals, giving it its "brown mountain" nickname. This prestigious site, once a favorite of Thomas Jefferson, enjoys worldwide renown for its exceptional wines.
The wine produced from this vineyard offers a beautiful nose of quince, pear melon, anised dried herbs, and fine spices. On the palate, it initially presents a slight sweetness before transitioning to a citrusy zest finish. The aftertaste is described as light-footed, racy, and mouth-watering, packed with flavors. Made from very clean and ripe grapes hand-picked from old vines, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation with indigenous yeast in traditional old oak barrels (Fuder). While already impressive, this gorgeous wine would benefit from some aging to allow the touch of creamy sweetness to fully integrate.
