While grown primarily in the sandy Goldridge soil, which tends to produce Pinot Noir with flavors of red fruits and orange peel, this wine also illustrates some of the deep, brooding black cherry character generally found in the region’s clay soils. It was bottled without fining or filtration, and should age gracefully for a handful of years.
I must admit, I am thoroughly pleased with this wine. What truly impresses me about it is its genuine representation of the region, its captivating nature, and its potential to age gracefully. It's as if it possesses a siren's call, drawing me back to the glass time and again, much like Odysseus was drawn to the sea. The balance of fruit, structure, and generosity in this wine is truly remarkable. From the red and blue fruits on the nose to the subtle hint of dark cherry cola, complemented by floral and herbal nuances, each sip is a delight. And when it comes to our Russian River Valley bottling, it serves as our flagship Pinot Noir for good reason. The meticulous attention to detail in the winemaking process ensures that the inherent qualities of the grapes shine through, resulting in a wine that truly feels magical.
The 2015 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) is rich, boisterous and super-expressive – in other words, typical of the appellation. Succulent red cherry, plum, cola, sweet spice and wild flowers are all pushed forward. Racy and exuberant to the core, the 2015 is flat-out gorgeous. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years.
