Alta Mora is a new winery from the Cusumano family. These grapes are grown and harvested on the slopes of the active volcano, Mt. Etna, in Sicily. It has been a lifelong dream for the Cusumano brothers to build a winery among these black, fertile, and dynamic soils. The name Alta Mora translates to "Tall, Black," representing the great heights of the vineyards on the mountain and the dark, black volcanic soil. The volcano itself is nearly 11,000 ft high, and vineyards are planted up to 4,000 ft high.

ETNA BIANCO D.O.C. is made from Carricante, a native Sicilian grape variety, trained in espalier and alberello at an altitude of 600/750m asl. The area of production includes Contrada Arrigo, Linguaglossa and Castiglione di Sicilia in the Contrade Verzella and Pietramarina, where the freshness of the land allows full ripening of the Carricante without altering its aromas. The wine has a bright yellow color. Its aroma features deep notes of ripe apple, white flowers, lemon icing and ginger. On the palate, it is spicy and rich, finishing long with nuances of minty herbs at the back.

James Suckling: 93 Points

Notes of ripe apples and pears with spices, chamomile and a stony minerality to it. Medium-bodied, sleek and polished with juicy acidity and delicious fruit. Layered and characterful. Drink now or hold.

Remarkably fresh, the 2022 Etna Bianco wafts up with an herbal-tinged bouquet that blends wet stone and hints of smoke with crushed almonds and pear. This washes across the palate with a mineral-laden wave of ripe orchard fruits, offset by a touch of sour lime. It finishes crisply refreshing and long, with a bump of mouthwatering acidity that calls the taster back to the glass.
