Shaw + Smith, established in 1989 by cousins Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw, crafts vibrant, medium-bodied wines exclusively from the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills. With a commitment to sustainability and quality, they own two vineyards in Lenswood and Balhannah, where they focus on growing the best possible grapes through hand-picking, sustainable vineyard management, and a dedication to vine health, soil health, and low yields. The winery, built in 2000 at Balhannah, is where all wines are fermented, aged, and bottled on-site, and features a Tasting Room open daily to visitors.
The wine aims for elegance, restraint, and the ability to age, with bright acidity and generous flavors, typically showcasing white flowers, citrus, and nectarine notes.
