Château d'Esclans, located 25 kilometers northwest of Frejus in Provence, has a rich history dating back to Gaulish times. The site, which served as a lookout point, houses the region's oldest cellar structure, part of an original château gifted to Gérard De Villeneuve in 1201. The current Tuscan-inspired château was built in the mid-19th century. Acquired by Sacha Lichine in 2006, the estate now spans 659 acres, including 180 acres of vineyards. Renowned for its old Grenache vines, some up to 90 years old, Château d'Esclans primarily grows Grenache and Vermentino, along with other varieties, and is a significant producer of Provence AOC rosé.
Pale pink in color, this wine offers fresh red berry and floral aromas. The palate is ripe and fleshy with great concentration, leading to a smooth, round finish free of astringency.
