Domaine Camus-Bruchon & Fils is a historic winery in Savigny-les-Beaune, Burgundy, France, renowned for producing high-quality red Burgundies. The Camus family has been cultivating old vines, some planted by Guillaume's great-grandmother, Reine Joly, and has a strong focus on vineyard management. Guillaume Camus is a skilled winemaker who spends most of his time in the vineyards, ensuring the best possible grapes for his wines. The family's portfolio includes top vineyards in Savigny-les-Beaune, Beaune, and Pommard, with a high percentage of old vines.
Moderately generous wood sets off equally cool, pure and airy aromas of both red and dark pinot fruit that are much more floral in character. While not quite as mineral-driven, the seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess even better depth and persistence. Note that this firmly structured effort will need at least a few years to better integrate the oak treatment. Good stuff and worth considering.
The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru, matured in 25% new oak, has a delicate, floral bouquet with red berries, potpourri and pressed rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly stringier tannins than the Gravains, a bit sharper with more rigidity towards the finish. This will probably require a couple of years in bottle.
