Grizzly Beast Bonded Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a rare expression crafted under the strict guidelines of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This bourbon, bottled in June 2023 from a lot of 105 barrels, showcases a unique mash bill of 68% corn, 20% rye, 5% wheat, 5% barley, and 2% triticale. Aged for 5 years in the temperate climate of the Northern California coast, the whiskey's original distillate is altered only by the addition of pure water from the Russian River Valley aquifer. The result is a 100-proof bourbon with a bronze, honey color, featuring aromas of cherry cola and rhubarb pie, followed by flavors of nutmeg, sticky toffee, and cedar on the palate. The name Grizzly Beast pays homage to two iconic trees: the Grizzly Giant, a giant Sequoia in Yosemite National Park, and the Mattole Beast, a towering 375-foot coastal redwood in Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
