Sequoia Grove is a family-owned winery established in 1979 in Rutherford, Napa Valley. Located in a historic 110-year-old barn beneath a grove of Sequoia trees, the winery has become renowned for producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and other Napa Valley wines. The winery's philosophy focuses on creating wines that showcase varietal character and reflect the terroir, emphasizing elegance, finesse, structure, and balance. This approach has elevated Sequoia Grove to a premier status among Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon producers. The winery cultivates grapes on its 24-acre Estate Vineyard and 50-acre Tonella Ranch Vineyard, both situated in the heart of Rutherford, where the exceptional climate and gravelly-loam soils contribute to the distinct flavors of their Bordeaux varieties.
This Chardonnay presents a very pale gold color, striking a balance between Old World restraint and California's sunny character. It offers a delicate profile with aromas and flavors of citrus, floral notes, and mineral undertones. The wine is characterized by fresh acidity and a medium body, resulting in a well-balanced and classic expression of the varietal.
All barrel fermented in about one third new oak, the wine stays in wood on the lees for 12 months. Made from the 35-year-old Haire vineyard in Carneros and the Cunat vineyard in Oak Knoll, the wine is silky smooth, medium-bodied, yet fresh and vibrant. Crisp green apples, white peaches and subtle oak spices on a balanced, lively frame. Drink or hold.
Plenty of ripe melon, honey flowers, and some spicy notes emerge from the 2022 Chardonnay, a nicely balanced, enjoyable Chardonnay that will drink well right out of the gate.
