Schramsberg Vineyards, a family-owned sparkling wine estate in Napa Valley, was established in 1965 by Jack and Jamie Davies on a property originally founded in 1862. As pioneers in California's sparkling wine industry, they focused on producing high-quality, handcrafted wines using the méthode champenoise style. Today, under the leadership of their son Hugh Davies, Schramsberg continues to create a diverse range of premium sparkling wines, sourcing grapes from cool-climate vineyards across Northern California. The winery's commitment to quality is evident in its limited production, use of barrel fermentation, and innovative reserve wine aging program. Schramsberg's historic caves, dating from the 1800s, provide the ideal environment for aging up to 2.7 million bottles for two to seven years.

Mirabelle Brut, Schramsberg's multi-vintage sparkling wine, is a delightful expression of California's cool-climate viticulture. Crafted from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the North Coast's premier growing regions, this wine showcases the best of both varietals. The Chardonnay contributes crisp acidity and vibrant green apple and citrus notes, while the Pinot Noir adds depth, richness, and a luscious mid-palate. The grapes are hand-picked at optimal maturity and fermented separately, allowing the winemakers to carefully select the components that make up the final blend. After two years of bottle aging and meticulous dosage trials, the result is a bright and lively sparkling wine with a medley of aromas, including orange zest, yellow apple, and seared grapefruit, complemented by lemon custard, sugar cookie, marzipan, and vanilla notes. On the palate, Mirabelle Brut offers a vibrant entry of Meyer lemon and tangerine, followed by a generous and juicy midpalate of key lime and candied apple, culminating in a long and satisfying finish.

Wine Spectator: 92 Points
