Sax renders racy Gruners from Austria’s Kamptal Valley. The Sax family has been in the area since 1660 and with young twin brothers Michael and Rudolph taking the reins, is in good hands. Zwillingslauser (meaning rough house twins) is grown on primary rock and aged in stainless steel while the Alte Reben is from loess soil and aged in large oak barrels. These approachable Gruners have acidity and structure to age as well.
Sax's Gruner Veltliner Liter offers a bright, accessible wine that blends fruit from three estate vineyards, each contributing distinct characteristics: Ried Panzaun's fruitiness, Ried Wechselberg's spice notes, and Ried Kittmannsberg's freshness. This hand-harvested wine, crafted by second-generation winemakers Rudolph Jr. and Michael Sax in Austria's Kamptal Valley, demonstrates their commitment to sustainable viticulture and gentle winemaking. The wine is fermented in stainless steel, aiming for lower alcohol and an approachable style that reflects both the family's 360-year winemaking heritage and their modern, environmentally conscious practices.
