Celso Pereira and Jorge Alves, the embodiment of the Quanta Terra wine brand that celebrates its first 20 years of existence, began their journey in the 1990s while collaborating in the Oenology Department at Caves Transmontanas, where they developed a professional complicity that would later create a solid foundation for Quanta Terra. After studying grape varieties, grafts, altitudes, and exposures in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior regions of the Douro, the oldest demarcated wine region in the world, they chose Quinta do Tralhão, a 30-hectare property with an average altitude of 215 meters and a southwest exposure, despite its vineyards being in a state of abandonment. In partnership with Mário Joaquim, the owner of the property, Celso and Jorge founded Quanta Terra, Lda. at the end of the millennium and launched their first wine, Quanta Terra Tinto 1999, after careful manual harvesting and experimentation.
