Familia Torres Winery, celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2020, has a rich history dating back to 1557. Officially established in 1870 by Miguel Torres Vendrell, the winery has been passed down through generations, overcoming challenges like the Spanish Civil War. Under the leadership of Miguel A. Torres and now Miguel Torres Maczassek, the company has become a global leader in environmental advocacy, social responsibility, and innovation. Consistently recognized as one of the world's most admired wine brands, Familia Torres has cemented its place as a respected name in the international wine industry.
This Albariño from Pazo Torre Penelas in Galicia's Rías Baixas DO is made from 100% estate-grown grapes. The wine ferments and ages for 8 months on lees in egg-shaped granite vats, followed by 12 months of lees aging in stainless steel. From the cooler and wetter 2021 vintage, it features 12.5% alcohol, high acidity (7.73 g/L), and low residual sugar (0.9 g/L). The wine showcases a pale gold color with luminous reflections, offering aromas of terpenes, linden flowers, and lemon. On the palate, it's silky yet firm, with a fresh, flowing texture and good persistence, embodying elegance and distinctive personality.
