Located 6 kilometers southwest of Montalcino, the Pian delle Vigne estate, named after a nearby 19th-century railway station, spans 184 hectares with 65 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Acquired by the Antinori family in 1995, the estate produces its namesake wine, Pian delle Vigne, which embodies their personal interpretation of the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino. The vineyards, situated at an altitude of 130 meters with a southwestern exposure, yielded their first Brunello harvest the same year as the estate's acquisition.
Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino DOC is ruby red. The nose expresses notes of citrus fruit and fresh red fruit especially cherries and strawberries, together with pleasant hints of lavender and tobacco. The palate is fresh and fruity with vibrant tannins that accompany a long, savory finish, closing with a floral aftertaste.
