Founded in 1919, La Scolca is a pioneering estate that helped establish Gavi as a prestigious white wine region in northwest Italy. The Soldati family focused entirely on producing quality Cortese wines after WWII, using stainless steel and controlled vinification to preserve the grape's subtle fruit and crisp acidity. Now run by the 5th generation, the 50 hectare estate practices sustainable viticulture on prime hillside vineyards near the Mediterranean. With some of Piedmont's oldest Cortese vines and a tradition of low-yield, careful winemaking, La Scolca creates complex, age-worthy white wines that appear on top wine lists worldwide. The 2014 vintage marked their 95th year of pioneering work with this indigenous varietal.

The wine has a light straw color in the glass. On the nose, it shows a typical and finely pleasant freshness in its perfumed aromas. The flavor is delicate and very dry, with a pretty evident note of crisp acidity that characterizes the taste.
