Feudo Montoni, a historic winery since 1469, is currently led by Fabio Sireci, the third generation of his family to oversee the estate. The Sireci family has long been dedicated to producing high-quality wines with minimal human intervention, using organic farming methods, artisanal cellar practices, and renewable energy sources. The winery produces a range of 100% indigenous varietals, including Nero d'Avola, Perricone, and Grillo, and is particularly known for its pure expression of Nero d'Avola from pre-phylloxera vineyards. All vineyard operations are done by hand, and the winery's commitment to natural practices and high-altitude terroir has earned its wines a reputation as among the finest in the region.
Packaged in 1,800 precious 375-milliliter bottles, the organic Feudo Montoni NV Passito Bianco is made with air-dried Grillo (80%) and Catarratto grapes (20%). It aged in wood for seven months. This pretty Sicilian dessert wine opens to dark golden color with bright amber highlights. The bouquet is exuberant and loud, with white raisin, honey, apricot and maple syrup. Those dried grape skin aromas from the appassimento process are the most pronounced. This is a luscious, full-bodied dessert wine. Monica Larner
