In the prestigious Saint-Joseph appellation, Graeme and Julie Bott's sustainably farmed vineyards in Chavanay and Saint Pierre de Boeuf showcase the exceptional potential of granite soils for white wine production. Their densely planted parcels of 10-20 year old vines sit on steep, sun-drenched slopes where the decomposed granite imparts a distinctive mineral character to their wines. The Botts' dedication to organic practices and hand-harvesting demonstrates their commitment to preserving this unique terroir, which benefits from cooling winds that sweep down the Rhône Valley, maintaining crucial acidity in the grapes.
This elegant blend of 70% Roussanne and 30% Marsanne captures the essence of Northern Rhône white wines with its brilliant pale golden hue. The nose reveals layers of ripe white peach, fresh apricot, and honeysuckle blossoms, while the palate delivers a harmonious combination of yellow pear and subtle vanilla bean, balanced by a precise mineral backbone. The wine's rich texture, achieved through barrel fermentation and aging, is beautifully counterpointed by a vibrant freshness that carries through to a lingering, sophisticated finish.
An aromatic nose of green apples, white peaches, stones, dried herbs, flowers and baking spices. It’s medium-bodied with a savory edge at the center. Plenty of dried herbs towards the succulent finish. 80% roussanne and 20% marsanne. Drink or hold.
The delicious 2022 Saint-Joseph Blanc mixes 70% Roussanne with 30% Marsanne. Showcasing a medium lemon color with green reflections, it offers up fragrant pear, spring blossom, herbal tea, lemon flesh and hawthorn aromas. Rich and round, it neatly sweeps across the palate with ample flavor concentration and good persistence on the exuberant finish.
