Domaine Christian Moreau is a historic name in Chablis, with the Moreau family tending vines there since 1814. Today, the sixth generation winemaker, Fabien Moreau, crafts exceptional wines that showcase the region's prized Chardonnay grapes. The Domaine is certified organic, ensuring sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention in the winemaking process.

The Premier Cru Vaillon Cuvée Guy Moreau stands as the domaine's crown jewel, sourced exclusively from a treasured single hectare parcel planted in 1933 by Guy Moreau himself, father of Christian. These historic vines, the oldest on the estate, sink deep into the Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis' left bank, where ancient marine fossils and clay-limestone marls impart a distinct minerality. Located in the prime historical heart of Vaillons and blessed with an advantageous south/southeast exposure, this special cuvée honors its namesake's legacy through wines of remarkable depth and character.

Vinous: 93 Points

The 2022 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru Cuvée Guy Moreau has a stricter bouquet than the regular cuvée: petrichor and gunflint underlying the veneer of yellow plum and citrus lemon. The palate is very harmonious with a twist of sour lemon that imparts tension from start to finish. There's a patina of welcome fire on the aftertaste that keeps you coming back. Excellent.

Burghound: 92 Points

A slightly cooler and smoky nose reflects notes of white pepper and a touch of the exotic while the wood treatment, while subtle, is a bit more noticeable. The old vines are in evidence as the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is markedly denser as the sappy extract coats the palate while buffering the moderately firm acid spine shaping the very dry, more complex and slightly long finale. Lovely.

Jancis Robinson: 17 Points

Cask sample. A touch more spice than in the village Chablis, and a suggestion of clementine. Ripe, deep, generous but with a long, fresh finish. Mouth-watering even with all this fruit. (JH)
