The 2021 Pommard Les Epenots 1er Cru was a blend of Petit and Grand Epenots from the beginning of fermentation instead of separate vinifications. Matured in 40% new oak, it has a very precise bouquet with mineral-infused red berry fruit, vibrant and brimming with energy. The palate is very elegant though there is a little more substance and structure than Parent's other Pommards. The wine is granular in texture with a touch of iodine on the finish. Another delicious 2021. Neal Martin
Generous wood and menthol again stops just short of masking the cool and pure aromas of plum, dark berries, earth and subtle spice wisps. The exceptionally rich, even opulent, medium weight flavors possess fine mid-palate density where the seductive texture again contrasts with the serious, firm and powerful finish that is supported by bright but balanced acidity. Thanks to the excellent richness, this could actually be approached young if desired but it has everything it needs to age well too.
