A linear and tight red with blackberries, blueberries and some fresh herbs. It’s medium-bodied with brightness and freshness. Drink or hold.
The 2019 Chapelle de Potensac has a light but agreeable cherryade and crushed strawberry nose, nicely defined and straightforward. The palate is ripe on the entry with slightly chewy tannins, but I find this a little short in the scheme of things, leaving me wanting more.
59% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc. Barrel sample.
Less Merlot than usual. Earthy, brambly fruit. Touch of sweetness on attack but stays fresh. Quite lean with grainy tannins offering a light structure and some persistence. Slightly chewy finish. (JL)
