Barkan was founded in 1990 by Yair Lerner and Shmuel Boxer, who prioritized modernization and vineyard planting to produce high-quality wine and expand the company. Today, Barkan sources grapes from top regions in Israel, including the Golan Heights, Upper Galilee, and Jerusalem mountains. With a 50,000 square meter facility, the winery features a 12 million liter tank farm, automated crushing and fermentation plant, and air-conditioned storage building. As Israel's second-largest winery, Barkan processes over 8,000 tons of grapes annually, dedicating itself to ensuring the best possible fruit quality from harvest to sales.
The Barkan Reserve Gold Edition offers a special edition of the recognized Reserve Series. This wine is made of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, grown in the Upper Galilee, long considered one of the best grape growing areas in Israel. During the maturation process of the wine, our winemakers found such unique character and together they decided to produce "The Reserve Gold Edition" as a hallmark for its exceptional quality. After fermentation, this wine was aged carefully in oak barrels, selected by our winemakers. This wine shows characteristics of red and black plums, sweet spices, with balanced tannins and a long, fruity finish. Enjoy this wine with various meat dishes, strong cheeses or pasta Bolognese.
